Scenes from a siege

Playmobil Medieval Siege – Schleich Castle Diorama

A medieval castle under attack, a ladder against the walls, and a battlefield scattered with weapons and fallen soldiers. These photographs tell a short story of a siege, staged with my Playmobil knights in a real outdoor setting.

The castle itself is not Playmobil: it is a Schleich castle that I bought second-hand on eBay for just €50. Its textured stone walls and imposing gate work wonderfully alongside the Playmobil figures.

The Assault on the Castle

In this three-picture sequence, a soldier tries to climb a ladder beside the fortified gate. The attempt goes wrong, and the ladder eventually crashes down. Around the entrance, other warriors continue the fight among discarded shields, weapons and fallen figures.

Behind the Scenes: Miniatures in the Real Landscape

As with many of my projects for Little Carpet Wars, I photographed the entire scene outdoors. The natural ground, water and distant green hills become part of the miniature battlefield, helping the toy soldiers and castle feel like a much larger world.

I enjoy combining pieces from different toy ranges and experimenting with perspective. Sometimes a few figures, an interesting location and a simple sequence of photographs are enough to suggest a whole battle.
